How to Get Rid Of Gadgets in Windows Vista

If you are using Windows Vista as your Operating System, then you might be familiar with gadgets and side bar features of these OS. These features can help you customize and organize your desktop. However, if you do not find the gadgets and the sidebar useful, you have the option to remove them. The side bar is the long and vertical bar you can see on one side of your desktop while the gadgets are those little stuffs that fill your sidebars that functions for easy access to small information, pictures, time, etc. There are default gadgets on your side bar such as the clock, slide show, and many more. If you want to get rid of them, you can try many options.

If you just want to close the gadget for the mean time and not completely delete it, what you can do is to right click on the gadget and click close. You can still make the gadget reappear again when you decided you want it back. You just go to the Gadget gallery, look for that specific gadget, and then click on the button that will activate it. If you want, you can also disable the gadgets using the Control Panel. Here is what you need to do.

1. Go to start and click on the Control Panel.
2. Type ‘features’ on the search box and when it shows the results, you have to look for the ‘Turn Windows Features On/Off’. Afterwards, open it.
3. Look for the Windows Gadget Platform and uncheck it.
4. Click Ok and restart your laptop or your personal computer to see the changes.

You can also opt to delete the gadgets permanently on your computer. You can do that by uninstalling your gadget. To uninstall, click on the plus sign (+) located at the top of your side bar. Look for the gadget you want to uninstall and right click on it. Select the uninstall option from the pop-up menu that appeared to remove the gadget. This will delete your gadget from the Gadget Gallery. If you also want to delete the sidebar, you can delete it using the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. If you feel that the gadgets and sidebar features of your OS is not that very useful for your computer use, you are very free to remove them.
