Taiga Technologies’ Carbon Reduction Software Takes 3rd Place at Annual Digital Technology Awards

Aberdeen (PRWEB UK) 4 July 2012

Taiga Technologies, which specialises in IT Power Management, was recognised on Thursday 21 June at the annual Digital Technology Awards, run by software and IT trade body, ScotlandIS, at The Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow. Competing against companies of all sizes from across the country, Taiga Technologies walked away with the award for 3rd place in the category “Best Newcomer 2012” caretaker, its advanced energy management and carbon reduction solution. With over 250 guests, the event celebrated the very best in Scotlands digital technology industries.

caretaker is a cloud-based power management and monitoring tool, helping regulate desktop and laptop devices to reduce energy wastage, carbon emissions, and energy costs via set policies. Specifically aimed at creating a greener working environment, caretaker records all levels of computer activity, recording energy consumption and its application of energy-saving policies, to reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Caretaker even monitors the energy use of laptop devices when disconnected from the network, playing catch-up each time the device reconnects to update energy saving data. Perhaps equally important for many organisations, caretaker keeps an audit trail of energy saved which can be retrieved and viewed in an easily understood graphical format.

The reduction of carbon emissions has become increasingly important in countries around the world, and as energy prices continue to soar, the economics of energy consumption has an increasingly large effect on the bottom-line profits of organisations, reported Stephen Grant, CEO of Taiga Technologies. As a young company, we are delighted to receive this recognition from the IT industry. Among the benefits of caretaker recognised in these awards, is its ability to span multiple device types, ensuring maximum energy and carbon savings across organisations, and as technologies continue to emerge, caretaker will continue to lead the field in energy efficiency.
